“Well I found a woman,
Stronger than anyone I know.
She shares my dreams,
I hope that someday I’ll share her home.”
- Ed Sheeran, Perfect
I have never stopped being surprised at what I have achieved in finding you to be my partner for life. It comes and goes, the realization that you’re mine. Forever, and a day. When I was a kid, I doubt I could have imagined ever landing someone with similar liberal leanings, passion for politics and the society in general, a helpful nature, someone who would love me with all her heart.
Every day I learn something new about you. It’s been over six years, and yet I keep being surprised. Life has thrown you curveballs, and every time you have persevered and found a way to knock them out of the park. I was a proud hen when you published your college magazine, and never more so when you scored TISS. And then you went and outdid yourself with the John Hopkins School. I was inspired by the strength you showed with the field work in Chennai or the internship in Assam, and then again when you used everything you learnt into your work at the Banyan.
All this is just to say that you’re perfection, my superstar, my inspiration, and I am the luckiest guy on planet Earth to be able to share a home with you. I vow to always be worthy of you. I also wanted to ask you to let me know whenever I am slipping, so I can redouble my efforts. Because in the end, all I want is to grow old being amazed by what you achieve, as your foremost cheerleader, and learning all about the mystery that is Anjali Singla.
Ps. Chapter 21 of Knowing Anjali Singla is ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ is a must watch.
